México, Elements of the Federal Police  detained in León, Guanajuato, a José Antonio Torres Marrufo, alias “el Marrufo”, identified as a leader of the criminal organization “Gente Nueva”, armed arm of the Pacific Cartel.  The Pacific cartel is in the service of Joaquín “el Chapo” Guzmán, en Chihuahua.



At the press conference, Ramón Eduardo Pequeño, head of Anti Drug Division of the Policía Federal, signaled that this subject is the presumed mastermind behind of the homicides of the 18 persons  in el Centro de Rehabilitación El Aliviane, in September 2009, in Ciudad Juárez.

He was arrested in Leon, Guanajuato where he maintained control of criminal activities of his organization in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.

The federal Public Security Secretary reports that elements of the Federal Police arrested José Antonio Torres Marrufo alias “Marrufo identified as leader of the criminal organization known as leader of “Gente Nueva”, armed wing of  “Cártel del Pacífico”, servicing Joaquín Guzmán Loera in the state of Chihuahua.
The capture of Torres Marrufo in a strong hit to the structure of the “Cártel del Pacífico”, headed by Joaquín Guzmán Loera alias “El Chapo Guzmán”.
José Antonio Torres Marrufo is responsible for various illicit activities related with the criminal organization, trafficking, sales and distribution of drugs, kidnapping, extrusion, and he's participated in murders of members of opposing groups.

After his arrest, he said that his criminal activity began  20 years ago running drugs to the States.  Later in 2002, a person identified as "Tio “El Tío”,  who belonged to Cártel del Pacífico” and was under the orders Ismael Zambada García, alias “El Mayo”, recruited him for drug distribution in the state of Chihuahua particularly Ciudad Juarez where they distributed marijuana until 2007.

The same year, they started fighting with the rival group named "La Linea" which serves “Cártel de Juárez”, that was lead by, José Luis Ledezma, alias “El JL”.

Lines of investigation indicates that  this same year clashs with  La Linea, started a wave of violence principally in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua that led Torres Marrufo and other members of the criminal group to leave and go to Sinaloa.

It is known that in 2008, Torres  Marrufo contacted Mario Núñez Meza, alias “El M10”, invited him a work y return to Ciudad Juárez to continue with la distribution of drugs this time under the orders of  Joaquín Guzmán Loera, alias “El Chapo Guzmán”.

In that year  Guzmán Loera sent Noel Salgueiro, alias “El Flaco”, Gabino Salas Valenciano, Mario Núñez Meza, alias “El M10” y José Antonio Torres Marrufo, alias “El Marrufo”, as regional heads to compete for control of  Chihuahua from “La Línea”, service to “Cártel de Juárez”, where originated “Gente Nueva”.

This criminal organization maintained an alliance with criminal groups with “Artistas Asesinos” y “Los Mexicles”, who had been ordered to compete for control of Ciudad Juarez from members of criminal gangs, called“Barrio Azteca” or “Los Aztecas” headed by gang members Eduardo Ravelo alias “El Tablas”, at the service “Cártel de Juárez”.

In 2009, by orders of Joaquín Guzmán Loera, alias “El Chapo”, Torres Marrufo took control of the armed wing “Artistas Asesinos”, presumed responsible for the homicides of members of rival gangs, principally the “Los Aztecas”.

Intelligence reports indicate that Torres Marrufo was leader of the criminal group "Gente Nueva" in the state of of Chihuahua, until the detention in Culiacán, Sinaloa de Noel Salgueiro Nevarez  alias “El Flaco Salgueiro” en octubre de 2011.

The detainee had the task of disputing the control of various illegal actions against the criminal organization called “La Línea” armed operatives for “Cártel de Juárez”.

Derived through intelligence and the exchange of information with other governmental institutions, on February 3, elements managed to the find the location of José Antonio Torres Marrufo in León, Guanajuato.

José Antonio Torres Marrufo, alias “Marrufo” is presumed responsible as the intellectual author of the deaths of 18 personas at the rehabilitation center “El Aliviane” in September, 2009 in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua and in addition to constantly battling other rival groups that have occasioned other murders in the state of Chihuahua.

At the end of 2009, la Procuraduría General de Justicia del estado de Chihuahua, offered a reward of 2 million pesos for whoever might provide information that led to his capture and who was identified as one of the most sought after along with José Antonio Acosta Hernández alias “El Diego” detained in  2011 by the Federal Police.

Intelligence work indicated that lately internal conflicts between Mario Núñez Meza, Noel Salgueiro y Torres Marrufo, by which Joaquín Guzmán Loera summoned them to a meeting taking place in the year 2010 in the state of Sinaloa to try reconcile the differences between them.

For this reason Torres Marrufo decided to change his residence to the city of León, Guanajuato where he maintained control of his criminal activities of his organization in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.

It should be noted that The Federal Police conducted an investigation of José Antonio Torres Marrufo of 33 years for his probable link to organized crime.

Also, the government of the United States of North America issued an arrest warrant in El Paso on charges related to drugtrafficking.

In this action, , it was also possible to arrest of Manuel Alonso Magaña Barajas, 26, a native of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, who provided security for Torres Marrufo.

During this operation they secured:

2 large gun
2 hand guns
Plastic bag with a substance with the characteristics  as "crystal".
Communication equipment

The persons and secured objects will be put at the disposal of an Agente del Ministerio Público de la federación adscrito a la Subprocuraduría de Investigación Especializada in Delincuencia Organizada

With these actions, the federal Public Security Secretariat, reaffirms its commitment to fight crime in all its forms to protect and serve the community.
