PLAYA DEL CARMEN, QUINTANA ROO, MX.- Victor Herrera Silva, aka "El Pantera", former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel in the municipality, was released last Sunday afternoon, a fact that would be linked to the discovery of two people who had been slaughtered in this city in the last two days.

Herrera Silva, it should be remembered, was arrested in 2005, along with Julio César Vargas Mejía, alias "El Camaleón", both accused of mowing down a commander of the Municipal Police, Carlos Hiram Ramírez Alvarado, allegedly on the orders of Ernesto Herrera Silva, brother of the first and who was known as the "czar of narcomenudeo" in Playa del Carmen.

Although both were acquitted of this crime, Víctor Herrera was accused of the murder of an inmate, a crime for which he was sentenced to 25 years in prison, in 2006.

It is worth noting that the defense lawyer in this case, Pedro Peña de León, was executed seven years later in Veracruz, after a race done defending various "narcos."

In the 12 years he remained behind bars, "El Pantera" was accused of being one of the leaders of the Playa del Carmen prison, who controlled the sale of narcotics inside the place.

However, in June 2017, two months after a riot broke out in the prison of Playa del Carmen, Victor Herrera Silva was transferred with other prisoners to a maximum security prison, which he returned four months ago on the orders of a judge.

This fact was unknown by the press until a narcomanta emerged 15 days ago with threats against personnel of the Ministry of Public Security, holding them responsible for the return to the state of this person.

It was until Sunday, at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, Herrera Silva was released, three lawyers coming to pick him up, in case a new arrest warrant was issued against him, which did not happen.

Hours later a body with a cut throat appeared, with several stabs in the back, which was followed by another one this morning. Both were accompanied with messages written on cardboards; the second directly threatens "El Pantera", indicating that in that way they will return his men. (Noticaribe)
