Federal security elements, Navy and Federal Police and the State Investigation Agency (AEI) of Nuevo Leon, captured in the municipality of San Pedro Garza Garcia Luis Reyes Enriquez, alias "El Rex" or Z-12 , regional chief Los Zetas cartel in the states of Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas.
Reyes Enriquez is designated as group leader of Old School Zetas and is credited with the resurgence of violence in the country's northeast.
According to federal authorities, the Z-12 lived and operated in that municipality, although state that he had more presence in Tamaulipas. El Rex was arrested at a residence near the intersection of Avenue and Calle Gomez Morin Villa Chipinque, one of the country 's most expensive residential areas.
During the operation the arrest of more people was achieved. Apparently the boss had his residence in the sampetrino municipality, but was responsible for managing a group of organized crime in Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas.
The arrest follows a rearrest order ordered by a judge in August of last year on charges of drug trafficking, among others.
The Z-12 or "El Rex" was imprisoned from 2007 to April last year, but managed to go free because of a legal issue that from the new Criminal Justice System. According to his record, Reyes Enriquez was in the ranks of the army and defected, and also worked in the Attorney General's Office (PGR).
Reyes Enriquez reached the rank of staff sergeant in the 90s, and as recorded in the records of the Office of Special Investigations on Organized Crime (OFDI), El Rex is one of the founders of Los Zetas.
Z-12 was commissioned to the delegation of the PGR in Tamaulipas, as an agent of the Federal Judicial Police "A", the first of March 1998. In 1999, he was dismissed from the armed forces, becoming part of the group of the Zetas.
According to investigations by the PGR, he was identified as one of those closest to capo Osiel Cardenas Guillen, leader of the Gulf Cartel people. In June 2007, the Z-12 had been arrested in the state of Hidalgo along with 11 other drug traffickers in a joint operation between the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) and the Attorney General. The Rex or The Z-12 recovered released on April 15, after purging a sentence since 2007.
No appeal of the Attorney General of the Republic, Reyes Enriquez won his freedom after serving a sentence of eight years in prison in the Federal Social Rehabilitation Center No. 2 (Cefereso 2) in Puente Grande, Jalisco, on charges of crime organized and against health.
