MEXICO CITY - José Carlos Molina, a young man of only 19 years old, will be imprisoned for the next 16 years and eight months, after having “debuted” as a hitman, as he murdered another man point-blank in 2019 .
The events occurred on December 22 of that year in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, when the now accused, and three other accomplices - one of them, a cousin - pulled up behind a truck at the intersection of Cuatro Siglos and Francisco Villareal streets in the border city.
Then, José Carlos took advantage of the red light and fired 11 times (Note: counted 14 shots in video) at another young man barely a year older than him, identified as Juan Carlos Talamantes, and whom, it was said, he did not even know.
The murder was recorded from the car by the accomplices of José Carlos because, it is presumed, they intended to show it as evidence that the crime had been carried out and thus be able to collect the money that had been offered to them.
However, the video was leaked to social networks and reached the eyes of José Carlos's mother, who on January 6 decided to report it, considering that her other two minor children were at risk, since after the video leak his family was the victim of a cyber attack.
As it became known, José Carlos's mother declared that many of her friends had sent her the video to find out “if she had already seen her son,” whom she said she identified by his voice and clothing.
After his mother's complaint, José Carlos was arrested that same month in January and it was not until this Monday, September 14, that it was learned that the young man had been sentenced to 16 years and eight months in prison - counted since his arrest. - in addition to having to pay the reparation of the damage to the bereaved and the funeral expenses, which total 894 thousand 203 pesos.
José Carlos will be released from prison at the age of 35.
