The spokesman of security, Jorge Domene Zambrano, presented three pictures of the men responsible for the attack on the Casino Royale which caused the death of 52 people. The first person is described as being between 1.70 and 1.73 meters of height, age between 24 and 28 years, a weight between 80 and 85 kilos, as well as having a robust complexion. The second is described as having a stature between 1.75 to 1.80 meters, an age of 35 to 45 years and an approximated weight of 95 to 100 kilos. The third person is approximately of 1.59 to 1.63 meters, 30 to 35 years and a weight of 70 to 75 kilograms. Domene Zambrano mentioned that the pictures have been shared to mass media so that they can help spread the images of these criminals. On the other hand, the spokesman indicated that three vehicles used by the attackers - a white mini-cooper, a blue Equinox and a blue pick up, have already been found and that forensic experts look for any evidence that could help them in identifying these individuals. Jorge Domene Zambrano confirmed that the Sedena and Federal Police started arriving to Mtty. Sedena and PF will contribute 1,500 elements each, three thousands altogether. In addition it was indicated that there was a single weapon, an AR-15, inside the casino some say it belongs to the owner of the casino.
“Leave… leave, we are going to burn everything”.
They were six men, they all covered their face. They all carried rifles and they took cans with gasoline. They arrived cursing and shouting: “Leave… leave, we are going to burn everything”. The warning was accompanied by fast movements from the criminals who watered the fuel in the main entrance of the casino and then they set fire to it, before the panic of clients and employees of the Casino Royale, the casino that resulted in the death of at least 53 people and injured more than 10. The group of delinquents who arrived into the facilities after the 15:00 hours, operated with all impunity and in one of the most exclusive zones of this capital.
There was no one inside or outside who would stop them, there were no cameras either – or at least that what the authorities had initially first reported, until last night. After the escape of these criminals behind these horrible acts, described by authorities as the worse attack against civilians in this presidential term, inside the center of bets all hell broke loose. The fire began to consume everything, the victims who were within the building looked for the emergency exits. All these presumably were locked on the outside and prevented any clients and employees to escape.
On the ground floor of the casino everything was burnt and the smoke invaded everything. There was no escape. People concentrated in the baths and in the offices trying to seek for another way out. After 20 to 30 minutes the first firemen arrived on scene trying to save anyone they could but it was too late. Most of victims had died of asphyxia and some by burns, a slow and awful death. “It was horrible, it is not possible to be expressed with words”, an eye witness said. “People ran and ran”, tried to escape from the fire. A woman fainted near the entrance. Everyone was shouting, and weeping within the place, whereas personal of Civil defense and Firemen tried to break walls and windows of the premises. The rescuers resorted to the heavy machinery that was used in a nearby construction site to break down the walls of the casino, in order to enter the site and rescue some of the victims. Nevertheless, few, very few, could be saved. Last night, relatives and friendly of the victims looked for with desperation for information on the whereabouts of their spouses, brothers, children and fellow workers. The complaints abounded just like the sadness and the indignation.
