5/4/11...Kylesam just posted a comment of this story...thanks ks..from El Universal I translated to English and thought it belongs here as update. Remember last year when the 8 reporters were kidnapped in Reynosa?  Tamps officials denied it but ultimately it was found to be true. this is too big not to think CDG is not involved in some way:

http://www.themonitor.com/articles/reporters-36305-city-reynosa.html

Divisions of  Federal Police freed 16 people who were kidnapped inside a building in the colony Rivera Rancho Grande in the town of Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

According to the agency, some of the people who were kidnapped and released reported being undocumented Central Americans.

The Secretary of Federal Public Security reported that 11 were Salvadorans, including two minors, a Guatemalan and a Honduran citizen.  The remainder were Mexican.

The federal Public Security Secretariat reported that Salvadoran citizens is eleven, including two minors, a Guatemalan and a Honduran citizen. The rest said they were Mexican.

The unit said that this release now total 135 people rescued in the town of Reynosa.

<b>UPDATE!!! 4/26/11..SOME NEWS REPORTS SAY 40 NEW BODIES EQUALS 183 TOTAL.  NEW..HERE IS A REPORT and foto at right as the atty general prepares to issue a statment of the new find and a video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2qImtQ2hL0&eurl=unknown&feature=player_embedded

Federal Attorney General Marisela Morales said at a news conference Tuesday that six more bodies had been discovered in the San Fernando area of Tamaulipas just south of the U.S. border in the past week.

Security forces began exhuming the corpses on April 1 after they were led to the site by suspects who confessed to kidnapping and killing bus passengers traveling through the area.

The motive for the bus abductions remains unclear, though prosecutors have suggested the gang may be forcefully recruiting people to work for it. Morales said the Zetas have also been extorting migrants for up to $2,000. Those whose families pay are led across the border to the U.S. by the Zetas themselves, she said.

The discoveries of the mass graves have sparked sporadic protests by citizens.

Alejandro Poire, the government spokesman for security issues, insisted "the government is in control of Tamaulipas."

He said the government has sent more federal police to the state and is aggressively investigating the mass killings and working to prevent more deaths.

He said the increased federal presence has led to the rescue of 119 kidnapped people in the northern Tamaulipas city of Reynosa in recent days, including Mexican, Central American and Chinese migrants.

Morales said 74 suspects have been arrested in the Tamaulipas killings, including 17 officers in San Fernando's municipal police force who were identified as collaborators of criminals by some of the detainees.

Only two of the 183 victims have been identified, Morales said. Mexican authorities have declined to reveal their identities, but the Guatemalan government has said one was a Guatemalan national.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Most of the dead are believed to have been passengers forced off buses by the criminal gang Los Zetas in Mexico's north-eastern state of Tamaulipas, which borders on the US. Only two of the bodies have been identified and handed over to their families so far. DNA testing was ongoing.
Morales also said in her statement that 74 suspects have been arrested, including 17 municipal police officers.

The death toll also continued to mount in Durango province, in central Mexico, where 17 bodies were found in a mass grave in the city of Durango, officials said Monday. That brings the Durango death toll to 75 in recent weeks.
Mexican police also freed 51 migrants who had been abducted and were being held by criminals in Tamaulipas in Reynosa, Mexico, across the US border from McAllen, Texas. All told, 119 people have been rescued in Tamaulipas over the last week.

'Among those rescued there were 14 Guatemalans, two Hondurans, two Salvadorans, six Chinese and 27 Mexicans,' Mexican authorities said late Monday.
Last August, after police found the bodies of 72 Central and South American migrants in San Fernando, a survivor said Los Zetas tried to recruit them for criminal activities and killed them when they refused.
Criminal gangs are robbing and extorting illegal migrants on their way from Central and South America to the United States, trying to induce them to smuggle drugs or forcing them into service for the gangs. Many are killed.

4/22/11 UPDATE

Thanks to Kylesam I received a headsup about the new body count in Tamaulipas; number of body raises to 177.  Thanks Kylesam.

Thursday night It was reported by authorities in Mexico that in the past few days they have discovered 32 additional corpses in the Northern Mexican State of Tamaulipas, which bring the total of bodies found in  clandestine graves to 177.

The additional find of bodies was  reported by the Office of Justice of Tamaulipas.  The massacre of these victims is attributed to Los Zetas.

Reports have speculated that 122 of the 177 bodies discovered were from buses hijacked in March 2011 they however have not speculated where or who the other 55 bodies are from.

The first grave was discovered on April 1, 2011, just a stone throw away from the massacre of August, 2010 in which  72 migrants were slaughtered.  68  persons have been linked to the recent discovery including EL Kilo and16 municipal police.  64 OF these have been charged and or arraigned.Authorities are blaming the Zetas drug cartel for the massacres and are continuing their search for even more bodies.
PGJE officials report that 345 people have registered with a special missing person office set up for the case.
Of those 345 people, PGJE officials report that 280 of them have provided DNA samples.
The PGJE reports that 237official missing persons cases have been filed.

Note from Buela:

Word on the ground has always been consistent that there may be over one thousand bodies in the area of San Fernando, this has been rumored long before the recent discovery.  Where will it stop?  I think it will stop when Mexico decides at what number they should stop.  I think there must be hundreds of bodies still in the erath.  I base this not only by the word on in the streets, but by the massive number of families flocking to or calling Mata in seach of their missing loved ones.

UPDATE 4/19/11

Mass Graves in Tamaulipas at least 173 bodies have been found in mass graves in Sinaloa, Durango and Tamaulipas states over the past week, though there is little information available on the graves discovered in Sinaloa and Durango. The last official body count available to STRATFOR for the mass graves in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, stands at 145, but that tally may increase as recovery efforts continue

On April 13, the Mexican government announced a reward of up to 15 million pesos ($1.28 million) for information leading to the capture of Omar Martin “El Kilo” Estrada Luna, an offer that apparently was effective — three days later, Mexican marines arrested the Los Zetas plaza boss and 11 other Zeta operatives. Estrada Luna is believed to be responsible for at least 217 murders in the vicinity of San Fernando, including the 145 people whose bodies were recovered from mass graves over the past week and the 72 migrants killed Aug. 24, 2010, on a ranch outside of San Fernando.

According to the Mexican marines, Estrada Luna has also been implicated in the murders of Juan Carlos Sanchez Suarez, the secretary of public security for San Fernando, and Public Ministry agent Roberto Jaime Suarez Vazquez, the lead investigator of the Aug. 24 mass murder.

In both mass-murder events, migrants headed to northeast Mexico — either to relocate to Tamaulipas state or to cross the border into the United States — were taken at gunpoint by Los Zetas operatives. According to an Ecuadorian survivor of the massacre last summer, the migrants were being press-ganged into working for the cartel and, when they refused, the migrants were killed. The same appears to have been the case with those in the mass graves found last week. Fifty-seven Mexican migrants recently were reported missing by their families after the migrants left Guanajuato state. Their destination was not released, but reportedly the office of the Guanajuato state prosecutor expressed concern that the missing migrants were killed by Los Zetas in San Fernando.

It has been reported that many of the Mexicans forced from cross-country buses at gunpoint on the highways of Tamaulipas since the end of January have been found in graves in San Fernando. A STRATFOR source indicated that all but one of the bodies recovered to date at the San Fernando grave sites were Mexican citizens. Further confirmation has not been made available.

The current conditions in Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon states are tied to the Mexican government’s deployment of troops there last November. The influx of 3,000 troops led to the attrition of cartel assets and a new reality for Los Zetas, which has had to rebuild its foot-soldier ranks in northeastern Mexico. Still, even though Los Zetas is wounded it remains a formidable force, and the violence between Los Zetas and the Gulf cartel — with its Sinaloa partners — will continue in Mexico’s northeast for the foreseeable future

STRATFOR

Sicila is becomming the voice of the people...I thought exactly his words below...where were the Human Rights ogs  or the gov...or agencies...or anyone?  from August to now?Until the bodies were uncovered in the past week, including 23 on Thursday, no one - not police, government officials, human rights activists, bus company executives or San Fernando residents - had uttered a word about the slow-motion slaughter.

So turns another page in Mexico's nightmare: unrelenting, unforgiving, and ever more unsurprising.

"This displays the great rot in our institutions," the poet Javier Sicilia said Wednesday in Cuernavaca, south of Mexico City, where he hopes to ignite nationwide protests to end the killing. "All of us have serious shortcomings and criminal complicities disguised as legality that have plunged us into chaos."

16 POLICE ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH THE MASS KILLINGS
Sixteen municipal police officers from San Fernando, Tamps., have been arrested in connection with the investigation into the mass grave found there last week, Mexican authorities announced Wednesday.

The officers allegedly provided protection to the Zetas drug cartel in San Fernando — located about 80 miles south of Brownsville — and are accused of covering up the massacre, according to a news release from Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office — known as the PGR.

Another American possibly among the dead..

I found this interesting:
Debra Parks is a mother whose son has been missing in Matamoros since November 2010.  If you recall Tamps in Mata, Mier, etc in November was when all hell broke loose.  She says she has not rec any help from either embassy, big surprise, but yesterday she rec a call from the consulate requesting DNA for Mata Morgue to rule in/out her son as being one of the dead found in the mass graves.  Her son John Parks Lived in Mata and had a business there....read this:40 year old John Edward Parks is one of thousands of American citizens legally residing in Mexico. A pet store/aquarium owner, he lives and operates his business in a colonia on the outskirts of Matamoros where there is no police protection. Proud of his Native American heritage, Mr. Parks was once a grass dancer. He is a nine year decorated veteran of the US military who served his country in many of the world’s hot spots. A fisherman, devoted father of three young children, video game BETA tester, and cancer survivor, he makes time to give to others. When his young neighbor was struggling financially, John procured a sewing machine, fabrics, and supplies so she could start a small sewing business and support her family.

Now Mr. Parks is missing.

Here is the full story...LINK... so we have TWO americans possibly among the dead...wonder why the news is not picking up on this?  I found both stories accidently, and actually found John Parks researching info about the other American kidnapped off the bus.

interesting as Mx still claims the bodies are Mexican. BUT the 5 hostages say that is incorrect

MONDAY APRIL 11, 2011

reports are coming in this AM that indeed the bodies are those of Central AMerican Migrants.  That the survivors report the migrants were killed for their refusal to work for the Zetas.

WHile this is breaking, Mexico still contends the dead are Mexicans.  However this time there are survivors and they are the ones talking as to what happened.

It doesn't make a whole lot of difference, except Mexico did nothing after the last slaughter to prevent this from repeating.

UPDATE:  FAMILES GATHER WAITING FOR WORD OF THE LOVED ONES UPDATE April 9th  8:44

Waiting to learn if their loved one is among the dead
Juana Sanchez awaits word of her son
Juana Sanchez waits for word of her son

Chivis Escareño-Martinez

Heartbreaking stories emerge as families gather at the morgue in Matamoros, as they await word if their missing loved one is among the 72 dead slaughtered in Tamaulipas discovered and exhumed this past week.  The strong stench of death permeated the air from the morgue as family members lingered outside , even though authorities had turned them away stating that it would be until Monday until and identification information would be available.  People like Juana Sanchez, 57, waiting alone for word if her 38 year old son is among the dead.  Juana was inconsolable in her pain, but was staying firm until she receives word if she has finally found her son missing since May of 2010.  It was important to her to stay, to be close... in case he was in that building  she was not leaving her son who she has not seen or spoken to for 11 torturous months.  She is in Matamoros because the Mexican government announced that passengers kidnapped from 9 buses are among the dead, kidnappings going back to January 2010.  She will not leave, until she knows.

Pablo Cota is another one who waits.  In March his father left Tlaxcala on a bus to San Fernando to pick up a mini van for their family business.  When the senior Cota failed to return to Tlaxcala, Pablo began calling his fathers cell, continuously  for 24 hours, without an answer. Finally, someone did answer, a man with a voice unfamiliar to Pablo, he had a message for him, “Stop bothering me!  He doesn’t have this phone anymore, keep bothering me and you will see what happens!”.
“ How sick does one have to be to commit these atrocities?”, Pablo asked.  “Why?  Killing and mutilating people just because you can?”.  Though he has not be given an official notice that his father is among the dead, he is aware his fathers license was discovered in one of the graves.

Investigators interviewing witnesses have determined that the number of kidnapped is between 65-85.  PGR announced the names of suspects yesterday.  14 suspects have been detained 12 men and 2 women,  9 suspected to be members of the Los Zetas their names are:

Sergio Córdova Martínez, Julio César Lugo Chaca, José Mauro Oñate Rodríguez, Samuel Moreno Saavedra, Edgar Sosa Solís or Edgar Sosa Aguilar Solís, Juan Pablo Cabrera Escalante, Elfego Cruz Martínez, Júpiter Almer Cano Guerra or Júpiter Almer Cano Sierra and Adela Yudith Ochoa Marmolejo, authorities said.

The National Human Rights Commission recently reported it has 5400 persons presently registered as missing in Mexico.  The actual number is probably much higher, as these are registrations from people that know about the study, the study has never been done before.

48 bodies found buried in north Mexico area where 72 migrants massacred last year
 April 6, 2011

UPDATE...FROM 4-8-11 Evening from Buela
The Attorney General's Office issued a statement regarding the 14 arrested for the slaughter of San Fernando, Tamaulipas, noting that the perpetrators are members of the MOC group known as Los Zetas the arrest was conducted on April 3. After the arrests, suspects were found to be in possession of;  military uniforms, vests, weapons,  plates for Baja California,  and 5 kilos of marijuana, Note worthy is the date of the arrests opposed to the date of  excavation commencing.  Reports and rumors on the 2nd  that there were mass graves near the site of the August killings of the Tamps 72.

The discovery of 72 corpses in 10 narcofosas, has generated a great demand by Mexican citizens for an investigation executed without negligence or omissions, as it is  probable that the bodies belong to passengers who have gone nine buses recent dates.   Human Rights Groups issued and immediate call for investigation, as did several Central American Countries that are not buying the Mexican governemnt story that no CAs have been identified as of yet.

The federal agency SIEDO is also involved in the investigation as it involved a federal transportation line, (buses) and its passengers were deprived of their freedom.

AND FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES:
Mass Graves Raise Concerns About Brazen Gangs Kidnapping Mexican Migrants

MEXICO CITY — They were young men, traveling by bus to work in the fields and factories of northeastern Mexico, or perhaps hoping to get across the border to a job in the United States. Somewhere along the way, they vanished.

The discovery this week of 72 bodies dumped in mass graves in a no-man’s-land about 85 miles south of the United States border may offer a terrible answer to the mystery of what happened to at least some of the missing men. They were forced off the buses at gunpoint, perhaps kidnapped for ransom or press-ganged into drug cartels, officials say.

Much of this is still speculation, awaiting the identification of many of the bodies that are lying in a refrigerated truck outside the morgue in Matamoros, Mexico, across the border from Brownsville, Tex.
But what it suggests is that criminal gangs operating south of the Texas border in Tamaulipas State have become so bold that they now target innocent victims in full view of witnesses.

From earlier today
Reported today the discovery total of bodies in the latest killings in TAMPS is an ironic if not eerie, 72.  The exact count of the mass killings in August 24 2010 in the same exact area of Tamaulipas.  A sad commentary and despictable inaction of the Mexican Government and the lack of priortity and concern it has for poor people and Central American Migrants.  I do not care what the hell they do or twist the facts, I will not believe these are Mexican bodies, which they were quick to state.  Why?  Because it is a disgraceful inaction by a goverment which experienced this same tragedy just 8 months ago and have done nothing to assure a low risk of repeating..  Central American Governments also ain't buying the story and have gone on record wanting proof.  I will post those stories later.  WTF?  NOTHING MOVES THIS GOVERNMENT TO CARE ABOUT THE ABUSED, AND THE POOR...NOTHING!!  There may be Mexicans but they will be those of low priority the poor citizens and do not believe they are not finding migrants.
Canseco Jaime Gomez, Secretary General of the State Government of Tamaulipas, said that " Yesterday it was discovered two mass graves in a different location in the Municipality of San Fernando, not close to the Ejido of La Joya, where they found the first eight pits and that was that they could find 13 more bodies ".
Authorities have said it will be until Monday when the people who came to Tamaulipas in several states of the Republic, to know whether their relatives are among the bodies found in narcofosas.

The case of narcofosas in San Fernando, has revealed what the cartels,   had wanted to keep the bodies hidden from the authorities, because since the year 2010 and to date, nine passenger buses  have disappeared,  in the same section of the municipality Tamaulipas.

4 MASS GRAVES FOUND IN TAMPS..59+Bodies 11 arrested 5 rescued

New update:

Fifty-nine bodies were found buried Wednesday in a series of pits in the northern Mexico state of Tamaulipas, near the site where suspected drug gang members massacred 72 migrants last summer, officials said.

Security forces investigating reports that a passenger bus had been hijacked in the area conducted a raid that netted 11 suspected kidnappers and freed five kidnap victims.

Then they made a grisly discovery — a total of eight pits, containing a total of 59 corpses. One of the pits held 43 dead.

The bodies are being examined to determine whether they were bus passengers who were reportedly abducted March 25, the Tamaulipas state government said in statement in which it "energetically condemned" the crimes.

The statement did not identify what drug gang, if any, that the 11 arrested suspects belonged to, or why they might have hijacked the bus.

San Fer Tamaulipas is Zetas territory so i bet this is the work of the last letter. i think some of the dead are those missing migrants that were kidnapped, and the rest of the bodies might just be some rivals of the zetas. it is estimated to be over 75 bodies in these fosas

paseando in the Macroplaza downtown!  Not so safe, most Mexicans turn a blind eye and ear to safety!  but I would die also if one of my foundation kids were hurt through violence.

WHen these graves are found the news gets out ot the people how?
I thought mayself last August there must be so many dead buried in the area but no one cares enough to actively look..are the people mostly innocent citizens, Mexicans and Central American? The majority?

News is that citizens are demanding a true investigation now, calls are pouring in to state and federal agencies, human rights groups have filed formal complaints. But I have no faith that anything will change

NO CRIMINAL COMPLAINTS WERE EVER RECEIVED FROM BUS LINES REGARDING 9 BUS KIDNAPPINGS

Chivis

In reply to this post by Chivis
DESPITE complaints from families of armed men kidnapping bus passengers in Tamps, the bus companies never filed one complaint.  and The Mexican Government?  Wasn't the wake up call in August enough?  They cannot play stupid, they knew about the bus nappings and did nothing.  they now report they will "beef up bus security" we know how that goes...until the reporters are gone.
read more below.

(AP) – 6 hours ago

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Investigators in the state of Tamaulipas across the border from Texas searched for more mass graves on Saturday after authorities looking for abducted bus passengers uncovered 10 pits containing 72 bodies over the past week.Investigators in Matamoros, which borders on Brownsville, Texas, worked to identify the bodies, telling relatives showing up in search of their loved ones that there would be no information until Monday.

While dozens of families and passengers complained of gunmen pulling people, mostly young men, off inter-city travel buses starting in late March, Canseco said not a single bus company filed a complaint with police officials in Tamaulipas in the last two weeks. Security experts say the abductions may have been attempts by cartels of forcibly recruit new members.Families and state governments from around Mexico were calling Tamaulipas on Friday with reports of residents missing from buses that passed through the violent state, where the Gulf and Zetas drug cartels are warring for transport routes to the U.S.

"The state attorney general didn't receive any criminal complaint from any passenger bus line," Canseco said state and federal officials would work with the companies to beef up security.Attempts by The Associated Press to get comment from the bus companies Saturday were unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, U.S. officials warned Americans about the dangers of inter-city bus travel in Tamaulipas. The U.S. Consulate General in Matamoros said that between late March and early April it received three reports from U.S. citizens or their families of buses being boarded by criminals.

It also warned about potential hazards with highway travel in private vehicles in the region. A U.S. missionary was killed in the same area in January as her husband tried to evade an illegal road block set up by gunmen.

The consulate warning Friday was the third one about highway travel in Tamaulipas in the past five months.

Investigators uncovered the 72 bodies near San Fernando, a town about 90 miles south of Brownsville on a well-traveled stretch of highway patrolled by the Mexican military that runs near the Gulf Coast.

The same number of migrants were found massacred there last August.

After not reporting a single incident of mass kidnappings of its passengers, the foreign bus lines are suspending their routes to San Fernando Tamaulipas, indefinately until safety can be assured. (?)
The suspension will run until the federal and state authorities can ensure a hundred percent safety of travelers... remember the promises after August?  Same bus route.  read the story from La Verdad De Tamaulipas;

Suspended bus runs to the border
La Verdad De Tamaulipas

By: Hugo Reyna
Date: 08/04/2011

The foreign bus lines indefinitely suspended their runs on the roads and Reynosa Matamoros-Victoria-Victoria, as leverage to require federal and state guarantees for its employees and users.
In the lockers of the bus station in Reynosa, the bus lines announced the suspension of all runs to destinations that have to cross bound for San Fernando, while the runs were normally to Matamoros and the center of the country via Monterrey. It is worth mentioning that the situation affected thousands of passengers in Reynosa, Matamoros, Rio Bravo and Valle Hermoso, who had to travel to destinations such as Tampico, Ciudad Victoria, San Luis Potosi and Veracruz.
This as the routes to those destinations that must cross the stretch of San Fernando that so far has left a trail of dead and missing from attacks by organized crime.
The suspension will run indefinitely,  until the federal and state authorities to ensure a hundred percent safety of travelers.

American is one of the men forcibly removed from Tamps bus by armed men and has not been seen again....

last week of March, First of April.  3 incidents reported to the US consulate involving the bus incidents.

Warden Message:  Matamoros (México), Dangers of Inter-City Bus Travel in Tamaulipas

Crime

Western Hemisphere > México> Matamoros

4/8/2011

U.S. Consulate General Tamaulipas released the following Warden Message on April 8, 2011:
The United States General in Matamoros advised U.S. Citizens of potential hazards of highway travel in Tamaulipas

<b>From late March to early April, the Consulate received three reports from American Citizens or from their families regarding inter-city buses being boarded by criminals.  In at least one instance, male bus passengers,  including one American citizen, were forcibly removed from those buses and have yet to be located.

The Consulate strongly encourages those American Citizens considering travelling through Tamaulipas by bus, as well as automobiles to keep those risks in mind.

Hola!

When the August killings happened, remember there was a shoot-out and 3 of the suspects were killed along with a marine.  Then two investigators were assassinated, and 3 more of the suspects were killed and dumped along the road side a subsequent anonymous call to the authorities alerted them to where the bodies were dumped.  ThE speculation was at the time was Los Zetas did this to keep the heat off of them, I do not believe that because why then would they have killed the lead investigators?  Not logical.

So that is 6 of the 7 suspects.  I have searched in vain to discover what happened to that 7th.  Mexico promised there would be no impunity in the case but I would bet the farm that is what happened.  It is what happens in Mexico, the bi showy perp walks and then ....N A D A...after detainment they are released for "lack of sufficient evidence to prosecute" whatever.  here is what they said at the time:

The government "will continue its frontal assault against these organizations so that terrible events like those that occurred this week will not be repeated," Poire said. One suspect, who claimed to be 16, was captured at the scene of the massacre and is in custody. Three other suspects and a marine were killed during a raid on the ranch."You may be interested in JUSTICE IN MEXICO's 2011 report (TBI) TRANS-BORDER INSTITUTE  (includes the August Slaughter of migrants).  I am sending it to you in plain text...it is an excellent resource I use.,,,SEE PAGE 15 FOR THE AUGUST KILLINGS REPORT

Following the discovery of 72 corpses in the town of San Fernando, Tamaulipas, stories have come to light  of people who were traveling to that area and that up to now his whereabouts are unknown.

Families of Queretaro, Guanajuato, Michoacan and San Luis Potosi are thinking that among the bodies could be their loved ones.

In the community of Yerbabuena, a town of Landa de Matamoros, Querétaro, Doña Artemia acknowledges that his heart tells him  the worst predictions, but keeps alive hope of seeing his son Ignacio.

"Because as a mother worries a lot,  I sense something, something in the heart tells me what happens ... but I hold hope my child is still alive," he says.

A year ago, in March 2010, Ignacio, 16, and his older cousin Ismael, went in search of the American dream. Since then they have not seen them, since together with 30 other Queretaro to make the same trip to the United States have not reached their destination and remain as missing.

Edith, wife of Jose Luis Mendoza, who was also traveling with them, says it is necessary to continue the search of migrants who tried to reach the United States.

Paola, sister of Ismael Mata, who is also gone, expect any news of the young age of 21.

"A year since we know nothing of him is a lot. We expect good or bad news, and although we do not like what we say will be good news, because we know where he is," he said.

In Guanajuato, believe that a resident of Celaya is among the victims, revealed the mayor Laura Ruby.

He explained that the remains of a body was found a voter registration card of a young celayense.

"I was given notice to the family (the discovery) was found (the voter) in one of the corpses in mass graves discovered in Tamaulipas," the mayor said, adding that the disappeared person belongs to the community Rincón de Tamayo and attempted to go to Chicago, where he was working.

In Michoacan, the attorney general's office began sending samples of DNA. Until yesterday it had performed tests to four relatives of missing persons in the last days.

One of the family confirmed that one victim is a relative, who left Morelia on 22 March bound for Tamaulipas on board a bus line in Mexico Bus.

"All information we gave him the same: the average descent, brought clothes, some distinguishing marks and a tattoo on his arm, everything matches," he said.

The likely victim attempted to go to Matamoros, Tamaulipas, and then from there cross into the U.S. in search of work.

In the PGJE reported that people had come Tiquicheo, Uruapan and Ciudad Hidalgo to report missing family also traveled north to Tamaulipas.

While the Office of San Luis Potosi sent a team of experts to Matamoros with samples from relatives of missing nine potosinos to compare with DNA from the victims.

He explained in a statement that he gave to the record SIEDO preliminary investigation was initiated following the complaint by the disappearance of a passenger bus company "Tourism Pirasol" among five people traveling Xilitla Township; two of Ciudad Valles, as the driver and his assistant in San Luis Potosi.

Ready identification protocol

The National Commission on Human Rights (NCHR) reported working with national and international agencies in the development and implementation of a protocol for identifying bodies found in Mexico.

Last week, the agency reported that 8 000 898 people died from 2006 to date by violent incidents, accidents or illnesses have been identified by authorities.

During a meeting with specialists from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), medical examiners of the National Commission explained their work in various hospitals and the difficulties they face in their work.

In addition, foreign experts claimed that the experience and knowledge will be instrumental in shaping and implementing the protocol.

The meeting was attended by Karl Mattli, regional representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Dr. Morris Tidball-Binz, coordinator of the global body, and Dr. Alejandra Jiménez, ICRC consultant in the field.

When the 72 were killed in August the Mexican government was very adamant  that a complete investigation would commence and that provision would be made to assure nothing like that would happen again.  So this event puts Mexico in a very bad position, they look very bad indeed to the world. and Mexico is under great pressure from global Human Rights Groups, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guate who immediately went on record saying they wanted proof of identity no matter who was in those graves, simple put they do not believe Mexicos asertion that the dead were Mexican migrants.

I am not sure we will ever know everything, but my guess is because of the buses that have been attacked, 9 in total, the dead are a mix of Central American and Mexican Migrant.

Another heart-wrenching story; I have heard of a number of families that have more than one loved one missing that had traveled together to San Fernando area and are missing, they have arrived in Mata with the hopes of discovering what happened to their family member..

MATAMOROS, Mexico - Clutching a manila folder with photos of her missing son, Eloisa Camacho followed Hazmat-clad investigators into a room at a state morgue to give a blood sample Saturday, hoping all the while her DNA would not match any of the dozens of bodies that have been found buried in mass graves in northern Mexico.
She emerged a few minutes later, retching at the heavy odor of decomposing bodies - an unmistakable stench that saturated the air outside the building every 90 minutes or so when investigators opened the back of the refrigerated trailer to transfer yet another body into the morgue.
As of Saturday, the bodies of 72 men had been pulled from pit graves in the Zeta drug cartel-controlled desert near San Fernando, about 85 miles south of Brownsville. Rumors swirled that more will be found, and those with missing family have begun showing up at the morgue, trying to find some kind of resolution yet all the while praying for none.
Moises Cruz Camacho, 20, a student at a Monterrey technical school, vanished April 30, almost a year ago.
"Not a word. Nothing. His phone didn't work any more. He just disappeared," said his sister, 19-year-old Rebecca.
from the Chron-Houston

Mexico continues to asert that the bodies are mexican

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-mexico-graves-20110409,0,1106188.story

However other sources have begun reporting they are central american  including Justice in Mexico Project

They contend the migrants were aboard the two buses hickjacked in March
