MEXICO CITY (approved) .- Elements of the Federal Police arrested the operators of a tourist bus that was carrying 16.42 kg of cocaine in a hidden compartment in the trunk and chassis unit in Tamaulipas.
National Security Commission agents noticed the high speed traveling on the bus on the National Road (1830) in the vicinity of Monterrey-Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
The driver tried to evade contact the police so he was advised to stop again. When the bus stopped finally, federales conducted an inspection of the unit, which detected compartments in the trunk and alterations in the chassis, so they secured the truck and its crew.
Before the prosecutor. Federation opened all compartments of the bus in which 15 packages wrapped with transparent plastic tape containing 16.42 kg of cocaine were found.
Following the discovery, operators, bus and drugs were made available to the federal ministerial authority, which will monitor the relevant investigations, the CNS said in a statement.
