Fearful and bloodthirsty men, women and even children are part of this criminal organization, but what is its origin?  In recent weeks several points of Tamaulipas have become a stage of war, even more perhaps than the entity has suffered in these years of the so-called "War on drug trafficking."

Much of this violence is due to the clashes that law enforcement agencies, both state and federal, have staged against criminal organizations operating in the Tamaulipas entity, mainly against the Northeast cartel and its most recent armed arm , 'La Tropa from hell'

Fearful and bloodthirsty men, women and even children are part of this criminal organization, but what is its origin?

The Cartel del Noreste is a Mexican criminal organization product of a split of Los Zetas , born as an outbreak by the capture of its last absolute leader: Omar Treviño Morales, aka the Z-42.

Its main criminal activities are : kidnapping, extortion, theft of vehicles, trafficking in persons, drug trafficking, terrorism, money laundering, as well as the control of local activities such as prostitution, armed robbery and illegal trafficking of persons, among other.

After the capture of Omar Treviño Morales aka "Z42", Juan Francisco Treviño Chávez, aka "Kiko", nephew of "El Z-40" and "Z-42", and son of Juan Francisco Treviño Morales, aka "El Kiko Ozuna ”, Elder brother of the bloodthirsty Treviño Morales dynasty took control of the cartel.

However, the leadership of "Kiko" was not well seen by the founding members of "Los Zetas", those who had a military past, so the friction began in the dome of the cartel.

The fracture was consumed when “Kiko” was arrested in 2016, in the United States, by elements of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

"Los Zetas" separated into basically two cells. On the one hand, "Los Zetas Vieja Escuela", formed by the defending founders of the Army and its allies. On the other hand, the Northeast cartel formed by the Morales Treviño family and their allies.

The maximum leader of the Northeast cartel, since then and according to the DEA, is Juan Gerardo Treviño Chávez, alias “El Huevo”.

In February of last year, José María Guízar Valencia, aka the “Z-43”, was arrested in Mexico City, being considered the last of the founding leaders of “Los Zetas”.

Its domain area is the states of Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Coahuila, Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí. It is said that it has an operational presence in the United States, Guatemala, Honduras and Colombia ; in the latter, it is believed that he took the business of buying cocaine from Los Zetas , after his disappearance as a criminal group.

Who is “El Huevo”? ... leader of the Northeast Cartel and its expansion plan that challenges 'El Mencho'
Tamaulipas  is one of the key areas for drug cartels in Mexico, due to the border crossing, but that territory is largely controlled by the  Northeast Cartel  (CDN)

That group is the remnant of Los Zetas, which has positioned itself in Nuevo Laredo, an important crossing, the busiest along the U.S. border  , as it leads directly to the  Interstate 35 corridor , Stratfor reports.

Its leader  Juan Gerardo Treviño Chávez , also known as  “El Huevo”, is the oldest member of another criminal group Los Treviño, which has a long history in Nuevo Laredo.

No other organization manages to enter Nuevo Lareo, where the CDN is “caught in a vicious fight against another remnant of Los Zetas”, indicates the analysis of the portal specialized in geopolitics and security. It refers to Los Zetas Vieja Escuela (ZVE), which has a presence throughout the state, particularly in Ciudad Victoria.

The report indicates that  “El Huevo” seeks to advance in Tamaulipas, but there are also fragments of the Gulf Cartel, led by José Alfredo Cárdenas, also known as “El Contador”, who has strength in the entity, in addition to a group of “Los Meters ”, supported by the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, aka“ El Mencho ”.

Another report from the agency indicates that  “El Huevo” tries to control the Metropolitan Zone of Monterrey, the third most important city in Mexico, where “El Mencho” recently threatened to take the square, and also faces José Rodolfo Villarreal Hernández, “El Gato ”, leader in the Beltrán Leyva Cartel area.

So far there are no reports of a frontal confrontation between the CDN and the "El Mecho" group.

“El Huevo”, from being the last leader of Los Zetas to the CDN
Juan Gerardo Treviño Chávez, aka “El Huevo,” was the last active Los Zetas leader identified by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The Zetas,  according to the same US authorities, are in decline.

The neutralization of their leaders, either killed and detained, caused, as in most cartels that have been beaten by the authorities, the fragmentation of  Los Zetas .

The former are initial members of  Los Zetas , when the band was the armed arm of the Gulf Cartel.

While the Northeast Cartel is basically formed by the Treviño Morales family and their allies.

It should be mentioned that, initially, Los Zetas were formed by defectors from the Mexican Army, hence their heinous bloodthirsty methods against their rivals.

The term of last leader of  Los Zetas  is reinforced after the arrest of José María Guízar Valencia, alias "El Z-43".

'Tropa del Infierno' of the CDN declares war on 'El Mencho' and its Jalisco New Generation Cartel ... announce the 'Operativa Néctar Lima'
The war has been unleashed in  Tamaulipas , the emergence of the 'Troop of Hell', armed group belonging to  the Northeast Cartel  (CDN) has brought terror and blood to the population of some municipalities of the state.

Various clashes between authorities and among the rival cartels themselves have unleashed a wave of insecurity comparable to that of 2006, when the ' War on Drug Trafficking ' began during the six-year period of  Felipe Calderón.

The rivalry between the  Northeast Cartel  and the  Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel  has grown in the entity due to the dispute of the Plaza de  Nuevo Laredo and other municipalities of Tamaulipas and Nuevo León.

Recently, a video began to circulate through social networks where the criminal group called  `` Tropa del Infierno '', armed arm of the Noreste cartel (CDN) announced the `` Operation Nectar Lima '' against the Jalisco New Generation cartel where they interrogated and decapitate three men of the CJNG.

In the recording, more than two minutes long, there are eight uniformed men and heavily armed with assault rifles, grenade launchers and a 50-gauge Barret machine gun, who launch an affront and death threat to  Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, `` El Mencho '' , leader of the CJNG.

The video that has the letterhead of the  `` Troop of Hell ''  is observed as the hitmen hit and torture the men who seem to be in the recording, with the naked torso, while a man in uniform places a knife in the neck.

One of the hostages is interrogated and confesses to work for an individual nicknamed `` El Viejón '', belonging to the  CJNG . After a series of confessions he is beheaded and beheaded with an ax.

The other two men face the same fate as one of the executors, warns that Nemesio Oseguera will also die in that way  if he continues to send gunmen to Tamaulipas.

Huevo Trevino is the plaza boss of Nuevo Laredo basically along with El Cadete and Comandante Cepeda lead the day to day operations in Tamaulipas.

El Tory is responsible of operations in Nuevo León. CDN has hung banners in NL supposedly signed by Cjng but authorities have said its CDN. El Pelon of CDG is supported  by Matamoros is fighting El Tory both have openly challenged each other.

Not that it matter much, but banners about CDN started to appear after Lazca's death, first in collab with los Zetas, so to me it looks like CDN was a brainchild of Z40.

Also, Z43 was not a founding father of Los Zetas, Viejo Zeta sure, but no founder. What is so interesting about him is that he actually originates from the Valencia-family, now los Cuinis and he was sent to Chiapas by Valencia to secure routes and fought the Pelenque Cartel, linked to AMLO's family.

@LeChef Yeah, the first time I ever heard about CDN was in 2013 and than in the beginning of 2014, but the narco raps made in Nuevo Laredo were always featuring Los Zetas instead of CDN till 2015
CDN always resembles as an cartel of Lazca's time and the way it used to be. CDN is like the same as Lazcas and Z40'S NEWLY Zeta cartel that was formed after CDG and Zetas rupture, but most of it's leadership is composed as new Generation Zetas or young Zetas meaning in present time there are not many people left working for them that used to operate during Lazca's reign
CDN is like lazca's real Z cartel dust remnant that is still leftover

About Z-43 wasn't there like two Z-43s? the one that got interrogated and than killed by CDG back in 2010? There's even video about it. How is Z-43 IS affiliated with Los Cuinis/Valencias family and how he is a Zeta than? Weren't the Viejo Zetas the ones under CDG that almost annihilated and wiped them out from Michoacan and than forced them to take refugee in Jalisco, after they began to mess with Tisico(LFM Founder) over a some woman in the the early 2000s?

@Maxi M: I have no idea why Z43 Carlos Guizar Valencia AKA El Charly joined los Zetas, but I would imagine it had something to do with his cousins Z200 Mauricio Guizar Cardenas AKA El Amarillo and Erik Cardenas Guízar AKA El Orejón joining. Maybe he got an offer he could not refuse?

So Tisico made Los Zetas to get involved in his personal problem with Los Valencias right? I even heard that one of the Valencias family member or relative of whom I cannot remember the name was assassinated by Zetas when they took a step in Tisico's case to help him to fix his problem long time ago back when they were enforcers.
It seems for me that Zeta-CJNG has deep history of conflict since from the long time, which Explains to me that why even today CDN-CJNG alliance can not even happen

BTW Does Z-43 has any blood connections with Los Cuinis?

El tísico was compadre of Osiel Cardenas Guillén. When El tísico was released from prison, Tísico was hiding in Reynosa but decided to go back to Michoacán and was killed in a meeting. I am thinking Mencho had something to do with el tísico being executed

@Canadiana:
The Palenque (I misspelled) Cartel is extinct now from what I understand. They operated mainly in Chiapas and Tabasco. Nothing to do with Zapatistas. But it is the brother of AMLO, Martín Jesús López Obrador, who is considered to be the bad apple, and he continues to nurture connections with organized crime.

And timelines crossed back in 2005, when Jose Maria Guizar Valencia's brother, Antonio Guizar Valencia, was killed on Jan. 22, 2005, by the Palenque cartel. Their father was also killed a few weeks later.

Guizar Valencia exacted revenge with, among others, the use of Kaibilies from Guatamala, something the Valencia Cartel was the first to utilize. They killed Jose Martin Flores Torruco, married to the daughter of Martín Jesús López Obrador, and later PRD mayor in Huimanguillo, Walter Herrera Ramirez, in November 2006.

AMLO is from Tabasco.

I wrote this as part of my article i titled "Is Mencho replacing Chapo as drug king?"

"In my opinion, today, the CJNG cartel is Mexico’s biggest national security ever exiting.  Two years ago Mencho was not among the 10 most wanted list, he now is."

It was five years ago in 2014 that i wrote it.  Most comments said I was stupid

studying him as I did in the early years and knowing the history I was sure this character was going to be unlike any other capo in mexico history---and not in a good way

my republished article can be read here.    it gives  background for those of you needing such
