NOT 25 YEAR OLD GABRIELA AS WAS WIDELY REPORTED

Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. - A group of heavily armed gunmen stormed the funeral chapel of St. Martin in the neighborhood of El Garnjero Monday. A young gunman murdered (executed) with a coup de grace the wife of the deceased (who the service was for), then used Molotov cocktails to burn three adults and six minors who are frail in delicate health.

According to data provided by the state prosecutor, northern zone, the woman, identified as *Gabriela Manriquez, 25, was shot in the forehead and also burned by fifty percent of his body.

In the raid,  three adults were injured  as well as five children, plus a baby of seven months, apparently the daughter of the unfortunate woman, all suffering burns consideration in much of their bodies .

The person who was veiled in the local funeral home, was a young man who was shot dead last Friday after taking 6 gunshots in the streets of Zacatecas and Parral in Colinas de Juarez.

Yesterday morning, several people were in the funeral services at San Martin Funeral Home, including the woman who just had been married to the veiled, several adults and children of all ages. The funeral home is located on Granjero and Mora streets in the neighborhood of Granjero.

So far  various types heavily armed men entered, without any consideration, approached the woman and shot her in the forehead, then emptying several containers of gasoline, to proceed to set fire to the building.

Following, the individuals fled in an unknown direction, leaving total chaos and confusion among the participants, several adults and children suffered burns on their bodies after the attack.

Three ambulances arrived from the Red Cross who provided first aid to the injured, while others were brought in trucks and cars to nearby private clinics.

The cries of pain, despair and helplessness are not left waiting, children and adults wept and begged for medical attention. Others sought their parents, the youngest crying so desperately, plainly demanding the arms of their parents.

They were treated on the sidewalk, into the seats of cars , on the floor. They tended to burns on their hands, their bodies , others had to be literally stripped bare in order to attend to their injuries.

Personal firefighters, rescuers, Civil Protection and others, among whom were municipal and ministerial police, ran in all directions, trying to collaborate on something to prevent more tragedies.

The official indicated that the only fatality was identified as *Gabriela Manriquez, 25 years old.

The female was shot by a firearm of undetermined caliber in the front, note that the experts found no shell casings at the crime scene.

The woman's body was found inside the business, at the wake, face down, shot in her forehead with 50 percent of her body burned.

The other eight people, including the girl about seven months old, are hospitalized in local where the health of the wounded was registered.

The door of the room, made of wrought iron, was destroyed after the attack, while the coffin in which she watched the young man recently killed, was intact after the event, because it was placed in the bottom of the building, and several pieces of furniture such as chairs and part of the chapel, were apparently were affected.

Of the suspects nothing is known, despite the movement of dispatched patrols in the vicinity with the intention to establish the perpetrators whereabouts.

When is Mexico going to finally say enough is enough and rise up against these animals? When is the Mexican government and/or military going to take things into their own hands and fight fire with fire and exterminate these psychopathic gangs of evil cancerous scum that is ruining Mexico?
When the corrupt Governators and Policia don't get paid - then something will be done.......unfortunately.  I'm amazed that there is such limited action by the rest of the world.  Hell, this is worse than Syria and at least Syria is being discussed on the world stage.

I think it has been bad enough for a long time. I think just embarrassing being it is 2012 and a neighbor to the "blindeyed" US.

What does it take to get this "elephant in the room" a topic of conversation on the main stage of the world? Seems carnage isn't it.  Blowing up pipelines instead of just merely milking them?  Maybe that.

Maybe people have to complain more about the situation?  Too many fat cats are satisfied with it and stifle any dissatisfaction?  If PRI gets back in-Fogghedaboutit!

I agree entirely. The most powerful people in Mexico are the one's who need to step up  and use their voices to demand change. Their greed and disregard for the people of their own country has severely crippled the voice of the average Mexican - who has to live with this disgusting and unacceptable violence every day. There's no break from it, no real reason to hope that it will get better.

Wow, Even the DEAD dont get any rest in mexico. Thats pretty low even by cartel standards killing a grieving widow on the day of her hubbies funeral.

And yes there needs to be worldwide debate over this. but like ive said before toomany people profit from things being the  way they are. That goes for people on both sides of the law.Politicians are meant to be the voices of the public they represent but those clowns are all bought and sold like shares on the stock market.Their opinions are all for sale and we have seen this time n time again. The media are the same. If anybody does step up against the corrupt regimes of todays world they will just be labeled as terrorists or communists and the bombs will rain on them........... sosad
Patriotism is a propaganda tool used to make people blind to the lies of their government through unquestioning devotion.

The world, especially more people in the U.S., need to be made more aware of what is occurring in Mexico.

To burn those innocent kids, these creatures (I can't even refer to them as humans) better understand that on the day they die, the Virgin Mary will be waiting at the Pearly Gates to bitch slap their asses straight to hell, no matter how many crosses they put on their gaudy mausoleums.

Maybe funeral homes in Mexico should start copying this drive-thru funeral home, with bullet-proof glass, in Compton.  http://photoblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/02/09/10362637-inside-las-drive-thru-and-bulletproof-funeral-home?lite.  It may seem a little tacky, but it may be the safest way to have a funeral/visitations in some parts of Mexico.

Seems like lower level Aztecas/AA gang member revenge killing, rather then Sinaloa/Juarez Cartel, but the dynamics are so skewed and confusing at this point maybe that point is meaningless anyway.  But, molotov cocktails and pistols?  One would expect the usual armed commandos in late model luxury vehicles with automatic weapons.

Exactly, Even the dead don't get any rest in Mexico. I was in Juarez this past weekend. I went to party for the first time in months and my friends were telling me that things have quieted down dramatically. That there are days when there are no reported homicides. I did notice that the streets are very quiet at nighttime though but I also noticed that Juarez seems much more tranquil.

Then I read a horrific story like this and it's like the devil just fell asleep a few times. Juarez is so elusive. I've been there hundreds of times and never have I seen any form of extreme violence. But it's always lurking. Always ready to explode at anytime. I had been to many hot spots that had been shot up on the days that I happened not to go. I was lucky.

Not everyone is as lucky. I feel so much for the Juarenses. I hope that the next president can pull a miracle out of (her) ass.

Fcsg-

Well, that is an interesting twist as it was reported as the 25 year old Gabriela in more than one paper.  Thank you so much for bringing us the correct news. It sounded like the most absolutely horrendous nightmare.   I'm completely sorry anyone died, or anyone has to suffered such devastatingly painful burns at all, much less such painful memories.  I hope you and you're family will not endure any more heartache, misfortune and this period of time will somehow fade into a painful, terrible period in the past without any more violence. For what it's worth, my thoughts are with you as I'm sure are many other readers and contributors to Borderland Beat.

Hey come on now, you're speaking to Chivo, believe me he knows the extent of the corruption in Mexico and gets what you are saying as well as anyone.  This is not breaking news! Just because it  happens in Mexico, doesn't mean that everyone in the world accepts this and can't get frustrated with the problem. it is not right that on any given day, one can't tell to what extent the police, army, marines, federal police, PGR, Sedena etc. are infiltrated, and no one knows who to turn to in a real emergency because the perpetrators could easily be the police.  Normal? No. Only in Mexico's twisted parallel universe. All of us here at BB are frustrated with the situation of inept, compromised, corrupt officials.

Fcsg: was the story about a baby being burned just a story given out, too, to confuse? I hope so! I almost cried when I read that.

Thank you for coming here and giving us this information. My sorrow for your cousin who you lost, and hopes for quick healing for those who were burned.I hope you and all your families stay safe.
