Confessed to having killed 21 people

Tapachula Chiapas.- A subject who confessed to having killed 21 people; 6 in Tapachula and Suchiate, others in Guatemala, Oaxaca and Nuevo Laredo, was detained by elements of the State Preventative Police (PEP), in coordination with elements of the State Border Police and the Municipal Police.
The elements of these three police coroprations were patrolling on $th Avenue South, but when they came to 18th Street West, they saw two people take notice of the presence of the uniforms, and flee.
The agents left their patrols and pursued the two subjects and detained them; a search revealed a package of marijuana, a .380 pistol with five clips, and 13 small bags of cocaine.
The two men were named José Antonio López Torres or Joel Antonio López Torres, 29 years-old, alias "El Boricua", presumed member of the gang MS-13 and Jaime Cruz Pérez, 28 years-old; both residents of the colony, El Confeti.
For crimes against health in the mode of drug trafficking, with the variant of possession, distribution for purposes of marketing, [and] selling, possession of a firearm, [the men] were made available the the agent of the Public Ministry for the common good.
After the authorities began their investigations, they discovered that the member of MS-13 nicknamed "El Boricua", claimed to have committed 21 homicides, 6 in Tapachula and Suchiate, the rest in the state of Nuevo Laredo and Oaxaca.
He said that he caused the death of a person named "El Chombo" [habanero pepper?], when he was in the bar "El Gran Pavo," located in the vicinity of the train tracks; although he did say that the actual killer was a person who is known as "El Tano" [The Wop]; on the other hand, in the colony Lomas Soconsusco, he ended the life of an individual nicknamed "El Chucky"; while in Ciudad Hidalgo, between 2001 and 2013, he ended the life of a subject that he called "El Raton", when he was near the railroad tracks.
At the same time, he indicated that in the colony El Rosario, he killed "El Chino" and in the colony 26 de Julio, he killed "Rochi"; all of them were enemies of his gang.
Although he said that in the state of Nuevo Laredo, from 2005 to 2007, he shot two people for belonging to the criminal organization called the Zetas, since he was a hitman for the Gulf Cartel.
He also participated in the kidnapping of Zetas who were then handed over to other people dedicated to murder and kidnapping.
On the other hand, in Ixtepec, Oaxaca, from 2006 to 2007, he killed another person with a machete who was arriving on a train and who was a guide for the Zetas.
While he was in Guatemala, in the period between 2001 and 2003, he shot and killed two people, killed another one under the bridge on the river Suchiate; likewise, is zone 1 in the Guatemalan capital, he killed another person with a .40 caliber; and in zone 6, he killed another person with a .40 caliber.
Finally, he said that in El Savlador, in the period between 1997 and 1999, when he joined his gang [Ms-13], he shot and killed four people in the San Miguel; additionally, he shot and killed three people in Santa Ana who were members of the gang Barrio 18.
Curious. He confesses to all these murders because he felt like getting it off his chest? He was beaten silly and nutty from too much coke? It didn't matter because over a certain number of murders, he goes away for life anyway. Or he's twisted and proud of his achievement? He wants to give the families closure. He wanted to look like a bad-ass so no one would screw with him in prison.
