That was so nice you named 1 of your children after him in his memory therefore a little piece of him is with you always.Yes I call the 80's the decade of excess.Everyone was spend spend spend be it clothes, drugs ,dining it was like there was no tomorrow.I actually think the cartels made more money back then even though US population was less. You are right, cocaine was everywhere and there was less competition for the cartels.I will email you if I see anything in the Canadian rags on the RX heroin.
I don't know how true this is[I read on a religious website and I'm not religious]that a hamburger there if you can find it costs $163.00.Don't know if that is in US dollars or equivalent in their currency.Wow!
Venezuela was one of the most prosperous countries in Latin America before being economically and socially destroyed by a populist dictator who relied entirely on oil wealth that is no longer there.
Still, the house of cards came crashing down before oil prices crashed, because they put NOTHING into increasing or maintaining production, refining at home, or diversifying. Not 0nly this, they let their agricultural base wither, and the few people who continued to sustain the economy fled or were locked up or killed.
Once one of the few countries in Latin America with a vibrant middle class, this beautiful country has been brought to the brink of destruction by hubris and stupidity.
If your Country is mostly rain forest and ocean, you should never run out of food. You may run out of "western" foods but not food. People lived and prospered for thousands of years in the Americas long before cows, chickens, & brioche.
It was owned by foreign entities that sucked the wealth out of the Country & polluted the rivers like most of LatAm. People in the US don't like foreigners & transnationals owning everything and neither does anyone else in the world. People are funny like that.
