Noteable Cartel Members

Itzli
I once kept a detailed list of cartel members I read about that seemed notable based on how they appeared in the news. I slacked off on it for about a year, but took the time to try to clean it up by removing inactive members and adding newer individuals. The names are all relative, a person listed in a smaller cartel may not be nearly as important as an individual in a larger organization. I would love some feedback if there are people you think should also be included:

This is great work Itzli. You realize that you just saved a ton of work for numerous drug enforcement analysts and also created work for the drug interdiction teams whose cartel organizational charts were outdated. Nevertheless, easy to follow, thank you.

A few of these guys have been busted. One name that should be on here is Rogelio González Pizaña, known as Z-2 or El Kelin.

Re: Noteable Cartel Members

Itzli
Yes, my personal list is constantly changing as people are arrested or killed, I find more complete information, or I come across individuals I feel should be added.  Here is my current list.  With the help of individuals on the forum, I have greatly expanded the Sinaloa Cartel section.  I have also reevaluated how I listed some of the minor cartels.  A couple of Beltrán Leyva affiliates have been moved there as factions rather than separate cartels.  A number of groups that I once listed separately or as factions of cartels I have moved under the Jalisco Cartel, which I now consider a federation akin to the Sinaloa Cartel.

Why is Z-2 under CDG? Shouldn't he be with Los Zetas? Is it because he was in jail during the split?

Re: Noteable Cartel Members

The real Z-2 was Alejandro Lucio Morales Betancourt, who was arrested November 17, 2001 and became a protected witness.  It is my understanding (with credit to Bjeff), that "El Kelin" was an operator for the Gulf Cartel before Los Zetas were even created.  Upon his arrest, the media falsely associated him with Los Zetas and dubbed him Z-2.  The media continues to repeat this information and there is no reason to believe he would join with Los Zetas.  In fact, information on social media indicates he is currently working with the Cardenas family in the Matamoros faction of the Gulf Cartel.

On a side note, El Blog del Narco stole my narco list today, titled it "Lista de mas de 300 narco que faltan por cae, nombre y carteles 2015".  I'm not sure if I should be angry or flattered, but wow they did a crappy job of translating!

Thanks for the info. This is a great list, I hope my bumping it and restarting this thread didn't lead to BDN stealing it. Regardless, the information is what's important, and this list clears things up so well. Regards.

Re: Noteable Cartel Members

No need to apologize at all, it is what it is and the moment I post information it becomes public and ripe for the taking.  It's just annoying to put in a lot of work and not only not get credit, but have them claim it was their own work.  I posted a comment calling them out for doing it, but it was quickly deleted, though someone else posted a good one:

Copia bien, pendejo ni escribir los títulos puedes hijo de tu puta madre

Buggs has incorporated my list on the mainpage and asked that I keep it current.  I will continue to work on it as I have been, but certainly welcome any additions or feedback anyone might have.
