I am going to make it clear I am in no way a cheerleader for any cartel.
That said the BLC has always hlp my interest. From the outsider looking in they seem like they were (and possibly getting back to being) the best run cartel in the game. They had capos like Barbie, Mano con ojos, etc. They were all but gone, but now under El H are moving back up the ladder. I imagine when Mochomo gets out they will be ran even better. Anyone else find this cartel interesting? |

They were the heavy lifters for the Sinaloa federation. They have some hardcore cells.

Some say that it was the Beltran Leyva Brothers who were most responsible for bringing up The Sinaloa Cartel.

Yeah, the Beltran-Leyvas are really one of the most interesting group of actors in Mexico. They put out few videos, few mantas, but they always seem to be lurking around the edges, and at least some of their sicarios (especially El Chapo Isidro's guys) seem to be decently trained (if not kind of deranged). Not that they are really any better than any of the other groups in terms of their actions - all the narco groups seem to do the same kind of fucked up stuff, it's just that the Beltran's hide it better/don't brag about it.

What is interesting to me is that I don't think that the Z and the BL would get along without the mutual hate for the CSD. So regardless how that all shakes out you will have a interesting problem of who is using who. Both think they are using the other, but when it comes time to go their different ways it will be interesting to see what happens. I am surprised that the BL hasn't made an alliance with CT and come at Sinaloa from two sides with the Z attacking from the front.

The Mochomos might be Sinaloenses, but most of the younger family and wives live in San Pedro Garza García, and Monterrey is at the heart of their alliance with the Zetas.

The bond between BLO and the la ultima letra was established by Arturo looking out for VCF. He provided contacts within the army "generals" to provide protection to his team. At that meeting VCF sent el dos letras & since la ultima letra was already collaborating with them in the northern states he invited z-3.
At this meeting it was agreed that if Arturo shared his contacts within the army z-3 would provide support & access to the ports in Veracruz. From this point forward la ultima letra provide logistical support from the port , moving Arturo's product north thru Nuevo Leon. Bootas Blancas also establish an agreement with z-3 to keep things quiet in Monterrey, especially in San Pedro where the majority of his family was living. La ultima letra relied on Arturo a lot during that time & even provided some of their best elite soldiers to Arturo in el DF. Which where later arrested with a large cache of high power weapons & explosives. What we rarely hear about are the C-eye- a links / old contacts that Arturo & Hector made with Amado. Hector's house was raided in Querétaro in the late 90's, the pgr found a several spook material including books on how to distablize a country. Describing much of what we witness in the last 5 years in mex. The government also found several taped recorded conversations the Beltran brothers made with officials & other underworld figures, a trade they learned from el señor de Los celos.

The old times, when the Beltran Leyvas helped the Carrillos at the top of their game, are interesting.
It's also interesting to hear about Sandra Ávila Beltrán's family, including her mother "Doña Chata", and her uncles. Her uncles, Arturo and Roberto Beltrán Félix were early founders of the Cartel de Sinaloa, and Roberto was a heavy with the Golfos. Her father was cousins with the Quinteros and had connections in Guadalajara going back to the 1970's. |

I too have a curiosity with them. MY two big interest points are:
1. Being a Texan, it fascinates me that an American (La Barbie) would be so powerful with a Mexican cartel. It amazes me that BLO would given him so much power. 2. They say Jefe de Jefe became addicted to drugs and became the stereotypical drug lord who fails. His brother H seems to be very different, more of a businessman (like Bejamin Arellano Felix). I am curious if his family warned him. Thanks for reading. |
