Mexican marines raided the Motel Paris on the interstate 15 just north of Culiacan, in the wee hours this Saturday morning, going door to door, knocking on the doors, and busting down the doors of rooms if the inhabitants didn't answer in a timely manner.
Some of the guests were reportedly wearing Chapo Guzman Halloween masks and carrying toy guns, while others wore traditional Halloween costumes.
One of the guests said they heard firearms being seized from another room, but this was not confirmed.
Unofficial reports say the motel is linked to the Cazares family, whose patriarch Victor Emilio Cazares Gastelum is wanted by authorities in New York to face cocaine charges. Cazares has been held for several years while he fights the extradition request, following his arrest in Jalisco. His sister, Blanca Margarita Cazares Salazar, La Emperatriz, is wanted on money laundering charges, for running money exchanges and other businesses in Tijuana, reportedly for Ismail "El Mayo" Zambada Garcia.
