GESI captured 2 former police officers, operators of the Sinaloa Cartel
After the search of a security house of the Sinaloa Cartel on February 20, were arrested by elements of the State Security and Investigation Guard (GESI), Andrés Ortiz Sánchez and Fermín Pérez Mondragón, former municipal police officers of Tijuana, and operators of drug trafficking in the municipality of Rosarito. It is their second capture in 11 years.
In the Homologated Police Report, the agents stated that "when carrying out the arrests Ortiz Sánchez said he was head of the Sinaloa Cartel, and Pérez Mondragón made the attempt to attack and disarm the apprehending agents."
At 6 p.m. on February 20, state guard agents executed a search warrant at the home located at Santa Theresa 301, local 31 and Santa Martha street of the Cuesta Blanca subdivision in Tijuana, an area adjacent to the municipality from Rosarito.
In the operation the two former police officers and 9 long weapons, 5 short weapons, a post weapon, 7 Crystal wrappers, 2 heroin wrappers weighing approximately 01 pounds, and 6 vehicles were secured: an Audi 2016 truck, a Hyundai Sonata 2012, a 2019 Kia Sorrento truck, a 2015 Frontier pick up, a 2012 Mercedes Benz, and a 2006 BMW.
Officials reported that inside the chartered house they located a double-walled wall closet, equipped with an electronic opening device, inside they found the armament. And in the garage they found a wooden piece of furniture glued to the wall that in the background "had a wooden table that worked as a hidden door, to access another room and that overlooked the courtyard where various vehicles were located."
The 2 alleged traffickers had already been arrested 10 years ago, as part of a criminal cell headed by Eduardo García Simental “El Teo” - apprehended in 2010 - ringleader of assassins excised from the Arellano Cartel, who supported by the Sinaloa Cartel, maintained a fight against CAF cells, for the control of drug trafficking in the streets of Baja California between 2007 and 2011.
Fermín Pérez Mondragón, was arrested in January 2009 by soldiers in the company of his brother, Carlos Arturo and his cousin Christopher Pérez Palacios, as part of the “Special Forces of El Muletas”, Raydel López Uriarte, cell chief of the Sinaloa cartel jailed in February 2010 and released in 2019.
The Perez were secured in 2009 in possession of two vans with police strobes, 15 police-type uniforms with the acronym FEM (Special Crutches Forces), two uniforms and a Tijuana Municipal Police badge, tactical equipment, 19 long weapons, 1 Short weapon, a bulletproof vest and hundreds of useful cartridges.
While Andrés Ortiz Sánchez was captured in March 2009 as part of the criminal cell of Jesus Alfonso Trapero Ibarra “El Trapos” and / or “El Profe”, then criminal operator of “El Teo”, and since 2018-2019 as one of the criminal leaders of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in Baja California with greater operability in the municipality of Tecate.
