“El Licenciado” contests the writ of amparo; alleges inadequate defense
Dámaso López Núñez the lawyer, identified as the alleged successor of Joaquín el Chapo Guzmán in the Sinaloa Cartel, challenged the amparo ruling issued by the Sixth District Court of Amparo in Criminal Matters for a collegiate court to review the statements made in relation to that his defender has been prevented from entering the hearings that have taken place in his criminal proceedings.
He also accused that in the Federal Center of Social Readaptation number 9 North, in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, they keep him with the light on 24 hours a day and incommunicado because they do not allow him to talk with other prisoners, family or his defense, according to to El Universal.
In the writ of amparo that he challenged, these accusations were dismissed by the judge and only granted him the protection of the federal justice so as not to be transferred from the Ciudad Juárez prison in which he is.
If the judges of the collegiate court that is aware of the appeal for review consider that they have not had an adequate defense, they could order the reinstatement of their procedure or even their immediate release.
The Licenciado was arrested in May 2017 in the Anzures neighborhood in Mexico City

This lights on 24/7 makes me laugh, its so silly that grown men are complaining of prison lighting. I'm sure the lights are on for their protection, the staffs protection and other prisoners. They'd all be complaining that their rights were infringed if the staff didn't notice rapes, suicides, murders etc. I know that goes on too but the staff need to be able to see in order to keep rule.
Its not meant to be a holiday, its prison for those who've committed a crime. I understand they have human rights but so do the other prisoners and the staff and they need to be kept safe.
