The father of ex-mayor of Matamoros Leticia Salazar was kidnapped yesterday. US$2.5 million ransom is being asked. Chatter in town says it was ordered by the Governor. More to come later but some local outlets are already reporting this.

Yesterday night there was a shoot out in Miguel Alemán between CDG and CDN this is the second time on this month CDG shows evidence of what they are doing against the CDN, while the CDN uses the Ciudad Mier army.

There is a rumor going around that CDG from San Fernando and Reynosa are backing up the CDG from La Ribereña area to fight off the CDN

@leChef: Enjoy your vacation! Apparently Lety Salazar (the victim's daughter) is a fugitive at a state level and this kidnapping was ordered to pressure her and her circle. BTW, I emailed you about Lugo. Feel free to respond when you get back.

@Wolf88: Thanks for this! Do you know if any local media outlets are reporting these shootouts, too?

Thanks for this. So Metro 37 and/or Comandante Robalo is working with Comandante Cubano from Nuevo Leon to fight off the CDN in Miguel Aleman. Is that correct?

Keep seeing M-32/ commandate Salinas name popping up. Isnt he dead? I remember awhile back reading was involved in a shootout and taken to a hospital in Reynosa where he later died from his wounds. There a picture somewhere of him layed up the hospital. Also seen rumors that he survived and was arrested after he recovered.

This post was updated on .
@Torro: I think that rumor is about M32's son and Joaquin Rafael Salinas Aparicio (Metro 32) was in jail at least in 2016, according to his legal records. He was originally arrested Oct. 13, 2014.

U.S. citizen Lizbeth Flores was killed in Matamoros. Her mother claimed she was extorted by a criminal cell in Matamoros.

Evaristo Cruz Sanchez AKA El Vaquero AKA Ciclon 46 is now placed on the Se Busca Informacion wanted program. This means the U.S. is now going after him as well. I'm assuming there's a sealed indictment for him in South Texas for his suspected drug trafficking involvement.

There is rumor that Metro 36 El Mono no longer is in charge of Reynosa. There is also some sources saying Juan Manuel Hernández Vásquez AKA El 90 AKA El Juanito AKA Juanillo is trying to establish control of Nuevo Leon. El 90 took over after Fox 6  Hector Adrian Lucio Benavides AKA La Yegua got arrested and killed in prison.

Nice info, leChef. Thank you very much.

El 90 is the one working with the Primito faction in La Frontera Chica area against the CDN, right? I read that somewhere but can’t find it right now since I’m on my phone.

I have not heard that he is working with Primito, but definitely against CDN. This article says he is forging an alliance with Jonathan Enrique González Rivera AKA El Totoy:

El Barbas gets 28 years

A federal judge sentenced Juan Oscar Garza Azuara  or Gabriel Rivera De La Torre or Juan Oscar Garza Azuara "Barbas" or "Comandante", leader of the Gulf Cartel in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, to spend 28 years in prison for organized crime,  possession of Firearms and cartridges for the exclusive use of the Armed Army and Air Force, as well as possession of firearm cartridges whose carrying or possession requires a license.

The judge in the case also imposed the payment of 3,626 days of fine and will remain in the "Altiplano" Federal Center for Social Readaptation , in Almoloya de Juárez, State of Mexico.

" El Barbas " was arrested in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, and although he was sentenced since 2010, the Fourth Unitary Court of the Second Circuit revoked it and ordered the reinstatement of the procedure, which ended with this new 28-year sentence.

He was considered one of the main drug traffickers from Reynosa to McAllen, Texas.

The cell of the Gulf Cartel that he led was also dedicated to human trafficking, which operated together with other criminal organizations in Chiapas and Tabasco; In addition, it was dedicated to the sale of weapons for the development of illicit activities, as well as the collection of land rights from the merchants of Reynosa.
