BY RIVIERA MAYA NEWS ON JANUARY 24, 2019
Cancun, Q.R. — In a press conference, the state attorney general along with the secretary of public security say they have arrested one of the men believed involved in the shooting that claimed the lives of seven.
The State Attorney General Oscar Montes de Oca Rosales and the Public Security Minister Alberto Capella Ibarra, acknowledged the arrest of a man they say participated in the bullet attack that left seven dead in the Supermanzana 219.
They say that during their search in several Cancun homes, they found four firearms and grenade launchers, all of which were seized.
According to the Secretary of Public Security, it was on Pinzón Street in SM 253 where they located a subject who was armed with guns, persecuting three women. The officials reported that they immediately gave protection to the women and arrested 32-year-old Pedro N.
They added that Pedro N has a criminal history of rape, disturbing public order and having ties with the Jalisco Cartel Nueva Generación criminal group.
Montes de Oca Rosales reported that Pedro N is believed to be one of the shooters in the January 20th attack against a home in Cancun that left seven dead and two injured. He explained that the motive for the shooting came after an argument between a group of people, some of whom were guests, others who were occupants of the building.
He explained that after a conversation, part of that group left the home threatening to return and cause harm. Later, a pick up truck with armed people arrived at the home and opened fire, targeting their victims. Guests of the home were not injured.
Pedro N was arrested and identified by one of the surviving victims. He has been presented before the Public Ministry.
