Source The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) affirms that hitmen of the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) had attacked a group of fishermen and three elements of the Ministerial Police (PM) that were in a fish and seafood store, located in Puerto Juarez and Punta Sam, with a balance of five dead and three injured.
It also established that it was a command of five or six subjects, who dispelled discretion and not directly against the ministers, one of whom died and another was injured.
In the first inquiries, to which Apro had access, it is established that Commander Héctor and Officer Juan Carlos, ministerial elements attached to Isla Mujeres, after their workday returned to the continental zone in a private boat and disembarked at the wharf of the fish and shellfish trading company, which minutes later was the scene of the deadly attack.
Raúl was waiting for them in the place, another element of the PM, which was resting. Héctor and Juan Carlos chose that day to spend buying fish.
But, in the place were a dozen fishermen who had come to receive payment for the products they had sold during this week to this company, which also has a restaurant and a small "marina" in contiguous lots on this narrow road Puerto Juarez-Punta Sam, north of Cancun.
On the second floor of the premises were the fishermen waiting for payment and the ministerials, who were waiting for their fish.
Suddenly, two subjects, "an obese as of 60 years", and another "tall and white with a Cuban accent" began to argue.
The subject with a Cuban accent seemed to dislike the presence of the ministerials.
A few minutes later, a commando broke into the premises and reached the second floor of the premises. The gunmen shot at their discretion. But they also reach the beach.
Amid the confusion, the ministerial elements responded with their charge weapon and also tried to flee.
Four people were murdered on the second floor of the premises, including Officer Juan Carlos and another, more on the beach. The "commander" Hector "managed to flee.
The main hypothesis of the attack is that this coastal strip is controlled by the Jalisco Cartel and that the presence of the uniformed officers could have bothered one of the commanders of this criminal cell.
With bursts of short and long weapons, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel marked its territory.
In the building, there were 105 casings of five different calibers.

Among the first investigations collected on the criminal events in which five people died and three more were wounded by firearm projectiles, which were recorded in an annex to the restaurants Kukulcán and the Jaibas, during the night of Friday, July 27, 2018, the events possibly occurred as follows:
The two ministerial elements that resulted, one injured and one deceased, arrived together aboard a boat that transported them from Isla Mujeres to Puerto Juarez, and descended in the vicinity of the restaurant "Las Jaibas", as they regularly do, since both they work in the command of the island.
Both elements, in the company of the captain of the boat that offered the transport, went to the place where the events took place, since they agreed to purchase marine product that is sold in the place, for them and another ministerial agent who was resting that day, who arrived later to meet with his companions.
Being inside the premises, a discussion began between an obese person, approximately 60 years old, with another person of white complexion with a Cuban accent, who questioned who were the people who were inside, when fishermen arrived for the payment of the collection of the marine product was that the firing of high caliber firearms that apparently came from the front of the establishment were unleashed.
The preliminary report of the events, indicates that the commander today injured and the third that arrived, before the bursts of bullets took refuge behind a solid part, which allowed that the first with his weapon of charge repeliera the aggression against a Robust person who wore a bulletproof vest and a long firearm, who climbed the stairs firing on all sides, wounding people who were inside the establishment.
Before the crossfire that was registered in a short time, apparently the one who wore the vest, was injured and ran for the ground floor, when the firing ceased and apparently the armed persons between five and six, left the place.
It should be noted that he was one of the injured, who requested support for the emergency number, and then moved to a hospital for medical attention.
Before said report, the various police corporations activated the security protocols and went to the place to provide medical attention to the injured and cordoned off the area, to proceed with the corresponding investigation.
The FGE reaffirms its commitment to investigate and arrest the probable perpetrators of this criminal act in accordance with the guidelines established by the Accusatory Criminal Justice System.
Re: CJNG Credited with Main Board story "At Least Five Dead in Cancun Shootout"
I spend 6 weeks out of the year on the island. It's peaceful and has a large Marine presence, base, ships, helicopters, etc... You have to confident or crazy to have 100+ rounds going off. My friends on the island say it's business as usual...
