Mexico.- Nazario Cavazos de Luna, aka Big Papa, Engineer or Mike, appointed as financial operator of the Gulf Cartel (CDG), was arrested by elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) in Mexico City.

The Attorney General's Office (PGR) reported that the arrest of the accused was made pursuant to a provisional arrest warrant for international extradition, issued by the Sixth District Judge of Federal Criminal Proceedings in the country's capital.

Information from Mexican authorities places Cavazos de Luna on the list of those sought by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The alleged organized crime operator is wanted by the Federal Court of the Eastern District of Texas to be prosecuted for crimes of conspiracy, money laundering and firearms.

In a statement, the PGR indicated that the capture of Big Papa was achieved through the work of information exchange and without the use of force, which prevented third-party involvement in the area of ​​Mexico City, where they performed the operation.

Federal forces had already made an operation for the arrest of Cavazos de Luna in one of its properties in the municipality of Bustamante, in the state of Nuevo León, from which he managed to escape and move to the country's capital.

"The assurance of this individual was made in strict adherence to due process and every moment his rights were respected."
