The bodies of at least 14 people were located in a clandestine grave in the municipality of Valparaíso, Zacatecas.
State Attorney Francisco Murillo Ruiseco said the finding was the result of a series of criminal arrests that took place there on July 1.
The official confirmed that a security detail is maintained in that area by state and federal authorities after a criminal gang had been identified as operating in that region.
He detailed that in early July they arrested a group of armed people traveling in a Titan pick up pickup truck, with a robbery report.
The detainees belong to a band of criminals headed by a man known as El Gavacho.
He recalled that on August 1, one Army member lost his life and another was injured after an aggression by the same group against the complex that houses the House of Justice, where the District Prison and military headquarters of Valparaíso are located.
Following the monitoring of the detention "there was information that in a hill located in the vicinity of the ejido and community of San Martín, municipality of Valparaiso there would be a clandestine grave," said the official.
Ministerial, expert, military and state authorities moved to the point where the 14 bodies were buried, eleven men and three women.
Murillo Ruiseco said that the search for bodies will continue in order to rule out that there are more human remains in that place.
He emphasized that the search operation by the Army and the Federal, State and Ministerial police will continue in Valparaiso.
